    INTERIM GOVERNING BODY

    Our Interim Governing Body (IGB):

Local governance is a committee of appointed governors with delegated responsibility from our University of Chichester Multi Academy Trust Board. For details of the board of trustees and Scheme of Delegation please click here.

Local IGB governors are appointed by the University of Chichester Multi Academy Trust Board.

    Our IGB is there to:

    • Provide rigour and accountability for the governance at academy level for the assurance of our Trust.
    • Promote the vision, mission and key values of our Trust and to deliver its aims at local level.
    • Have oversight of effective safeguarding and SEND compliance, and the culture in the academy.
    • Act as a critical friend, holding the academy’s senior leadership to account for the educational performance of the academy and its pupils, including the analysis of data and academy action plans.
      • Have oversight of the HDIC Inclusion Centre.
      • Have oversight of the Early Years Foundation Stage and national curriculum in line with statutory requirements.
      • Understand the groups of pupils, including vulnerable children, those in receipt of pupil premium, those with SEND and those with English as an additional language (EAL).
      • Ensure the pedagogy and curriculum reflects the ambitions and richness of the local community. Challenge academy leaders to make explicit the impact of the curriculum and provision on meeting the needs of pupils with SEND, disadvantage and where English is an additional language.
    • Hold an understanding of the school community and support positive relationships with our stakeholders to strengthen and maintain strong links to inform approaches to meeting needs and shaping the curriculum.
    • Have oversight of the risk management, receiving risk mitigation strategies.

Our local governors act with integrity, objectivity and honesty in the best interests of the academy and our Trust. Governors must conduct themselves at all times in accordance with the Nolan Principles and the Trust’s Code of Conduct for Governors.
