Flying Bull

Year 5 and 6 join the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra

On Thursday, children from Years 5 and 6 attended a concert at Portsmouth Guildhall, hosted by the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra. In preparation for the event, the children had been learning a song to perform alongside the orchestra using Makaton for the movements. In addition, they learned a three-part body percussion rhythm which they performed alongside the rest of the audience.

As part of the performance, the children were introduced to the different parts of the orchestra and listened to a range of music spanning different genres and ages. The show culminated with a final performance of Dancing Queen by ABBA, a firm favorite of those at Flying Bull.

Even though the weather tried to delay us and demoralise us, the children were fantastic in adapting to the changes in the day as were our parents who we wish to thank for being so patient and understanding with the delayed return.

This event has become an annual event for the children at Flying Bull and we look forward to next years theme: Sea Stories.

If any children wish to continue practicing and sharing the song the resources are at the link below.
