Teach Portsmouth Awards 2023

On Thursday 29th June, the Teach Portsmouth Awards ceremony took place at Portsmouth Guildhall.

The Teach Portsmouth Awards take place each year and allow us the opportunity to reflect on the incredible contribution of education staff around the city. At Flying Bull, we are incredibly lucky to have such a dedicated team who support the learning of the children that attend our school.

The nomination process opened earlier this year, where schools as well as members of the public, could nominate a member of staff to receive an award. Mrs Collins was nominated for the Teaching and Learning Support Award for her excellent contribution in keeping children with medical needs safe in school. Mrs Metcalfe was nominated for the Unsung Hero Award for all the 'behind the scenes' work she does that keeps the school running day-to-day. Mr Boulstridge was nominated for the People's Choice Award, which was voted for by the members of the public. Mrs Palamidas (who left us at Easter) was nominated for the Inclusion Award for her amazing contribution in supporting those with additional needs.

Our final nomination was for the Outstanding Contribution Award, which celebrates the significant impact of an individual has made to the education of children. Of course, we nominated Mrs Nair! Mrs Nair has worked at Flying Bull for 32 years, and she has had such a positive impact on children, families and the next generation of teachers during this time. We know that Mrs Nair's passion for education is infectious and her drive to improve outcomes for children is relentless. After being shortlisted, we were very pleased to find out that Mrs Nair had won this amazing award! Unfortunately, Mrs Nair was unable to attend the ceremony in person, so some of the team collected it on her behalf. HUGE congratulations to Mrs Nair, a much-deserved award for an extra special lady.
