Y6 World Book Day

Yesterday was World Book, and Year 6 celebrated with two special events and a whole heap of fun.

Firstly, we had the privilege of meeting with Pompey in the Community, alongside Year 5, who came to donate 70 books to the school alongside some other goodies. Sam, who works alongside the Y6 recovery programme, brought along Jay, the current Pompey Women's Manager. Both spoke with the phase about their love of reading and how they found their way into reading through their love of sport. The children had the opportunity to answer questions and were fantastic with their questions.

After this, the year group split into two with the children being able to choose whether to participate in a piece of Art or a piece of filming. The children worked so hard and we have attached some of the art work below as well as the link to the films of those who can go online.

Finally, before the day was out, we met with Tom Rogers, a friend of Miss Carter's (who works at Disney), who also wrote our current year group book Eleven. He spoke about how he came to write the book as well as some of his work at Disney. Again, the children listened brilliantly and asked some incredible questions. We are so grateful to Tom, as he had to wake up at 5:30am to speak to us before the school day ended.

What a fantastic day Year 6!
