Flying Bull

It is a 10 from us!!

Fabulous effort from our 17 dancers

Last term, we entered the Darcey Bussell Dance Competition along with 28 other schools in Portsmouth.

We were given a line dance to learn which we had to practice, video our performance and submit to the organisers, who chose the best videos to go through to the final. We were very lucky to be chosen and 17 children represented the school at the final on June 8th at The New Theatre Royal.

It was an exciting event and a long morning. The children performed their dance really well and met Darcey Bussell, who presented them with the large certificate. We then had to wait for the results and although we didn't win,(disappointing!) we came a very creditable second which pleased us all. A big thank you to Miss Hewitt, whose boundless energy and enthusiasm rubbed off on the girls and boys and Mrs Churchill whose dance moves are always appreciated by all!!

We were also touched to receive the email below praising the efforts of everyone involved:

I went to watch the performance on Saturday. I would just like to say the children were absolutely amazing and were subsequently rewarded with the position of first runners up. The time and effort they put in to achieve this should be recognised as I am sure you will agree. I also think that the time, dedication and leadership of Miss Hewitt and Mrs Churchill needs to be congratulated. Very well done to all.

Kind regards Mark Atherton
