Yellow - An E-Safety Message

Yellow is a TInder-like app for users of Snapchat

At The Flying Bull Academy we are keen to raise awareness of e-safety concerns, as well as provide information on potential threats to the safety and wellbeing of our pupils.  We would therefore like to alert you to a new app called Yellow, released a few months ago, which allows users of Snapchat to link their accounts and make new friends.  The UK Safer Internet Centre describes it in the following way:

"A new dating app that has exactly the same look and feel as Tinder (swipe to the left, swipe to the right, make judgements with just a photo, etc."

Whilst it is advertised as a platform for people to make new friends, it also asks you for your gender, as well as the gender you are "interested" in.  The app advertises itself as being for users aged 17 or over, however it has no way of verifying the age you enter when you sign up.

We encourage and educate our pupils to navigate the internet in a safe and responsible way, therefore we would encourage parents and carers to look out for this app, and if necessary talk to your children about it.
