Mummification in Year 3

Year 3 take on mummification of a fish!

The year group loved their experience to put into practice everything they learned about mummification.

Firstly, they had to make sure all of the organs (except the heart) were taken out of the body.

They then washed the fish and let it dry. After, they packed it with salt and cinnamon (to take away some of the smell). They then wrapped it in bandages, ready to put on a death mask.

They have put them in their own sarcophagus with amulets.

We will be sharing the instructions we wrote along with the mummified fish during our Egyptian Museum open afternoon in December.
