The Sad Loss of our Specialist Maths Teacher

The Flying Bull Academy is saddened to confirm the death of Specialist Maths Teacher, Fiona Peters following a period of illness. The 54 year-old, mother of two, had worked at the school for 10.5 years and passed away on the afternoon of Tuesday, 22 January at The Rowan’s Hospice.

Mr Deamonn Hewett-Dale said: “Fiona has been a part of Flying Bull’s school life for so many years and formed a special bond with colleagues and pupils of the school alike.  Fiona had a caring nature and will be greatly remembered for her dedication to our school, and her love of teaching and gardening, which she managed to combine through creating the School’s Gardening Club”.

Observers regularly commented on the positive learning atmosphere in her classrooms. One comment read: "The class’ learning behaviour/collaboration has improved dramatically over the past 3 weeks and this has been down to you."

Mrs Peters first joined The Flying Bull Academy in 2008 as a Class Teacher having graduated from the Primary and Education Teaching Programme at the University of Chichester.  The Flying Bull joined the University of Chichester Academy Trust in 2014, and the Trust’s CEO, Sue Samson said “We are all stunned by this news. Fiona was a gifted teacher who has made a difference to so many children in the school. Our thoughts are with her family at this difficult time."
