Year 6 and YolanDa Brown

BBC Music Day Concert

To celebrate BBC Music Day today, Year 6 went to the Guildhall to watch MOBO winner YolanDa Brown in concert. She played a range of music from her own takes of classic's from Adele, Bob Marley, Ed Sheeran and the Beatles, to her own music; engaging the children with movements and rhythm work. The children really enjoyed the concert with comments like 'Excellent music', 'It was incredible', 'It was fun and energetic', 'Best jazz music I've heard' and 'She's the best saxophonist by far.'

After the concert, the children went out onto the Guildhall Steps to perform with over 1000 other children a song composed by Portsmouth musician Katherine Bretnall. The children sang their hearts out about how we only have 'One World' and we need to take care of it.

Miss Carter said; "It was brilliant day and great fun and learning was had by all."
