The University of Portsmouth is hosting a free public event called 'See Bin, Sea Change' and is centred around plastic pollution in the marine environment. 

This event is open to the public of all ages and will have a 'kids zone' with crafts, interactive games, live animal demos, and free giveaways to inform young environmentalists about the problems of plastic pollution, how it gets into the environment, and what we can all do to help.  

For the adults there will also be a wide range of demos from companies such as Southern Water and LUSH and charities including Surfers Against Sewage, The final straw and many more. We will also be hosting a series of talks from researchers on plastics in the environment and plastics in our food. We will also have talks from the film crew of the movie 'Plastic Tide'. 

Following a very successful event in December 2017, we are holding a follow up See Bin Sea Change event on Sunday 29 July at the University of Portsmouth.

We have another fantastic list of speakers lined up. You might have read about Professor John McGeehan's discovery of enzymes eating plastic. A great example how nature is helping us deal with our environmental situation. We are also delighted that David Jones, diver and cameraman of ‘A Plastic Ocean’ will be talking about his experiences of finding plastic in the sea at the event. There will also be a host of talks from researchers at Portsmouth and Southampton explaining how we are detecting micro plastics in our food chain and in the environment, and how we can avoid single use plastic in our lives.

Let's get everyone involved. Come along to learn about plastic pollution with talks, research, art work, displays, alternative products and giveaways. There will be a Kid's Zone with fun activities for younger environmentalists.
