Charity & Community Focus Day - 13-12-17

This term, our focus day centred around acts of charity and supporting the local community.

Our focus day was very busy last Wednesday, with pupils looking at ways to support the local community and those in need.  Every class began the day discussing the role of charity and the support of others, before engaging in an activity designed to help local communities.

Our Nursery and Reception classes kindly made cakes and christmas cards, which were delivered to the children's ward at Queen Alexandra hospital by our head and deputy boy and girl.

Year 1 were kindly visited by the Trussel Trust, who spoke to our children about the role of food banks in our local community.

Year 2 spent the morning in our kitchen with Mr Hewett-Dale and Mr Dallinger, making soup to be delivered to Buckland United Reformed Church.

Years 3 and 4 came up with amazing designs for their shoeboxes, which were filled with gifts and supplies for the shoebox appeal.

Years 5 and 6 spent the day looking at the most vulnerable in our society, and the circumstances surrounding homelessness.
